Back to the Future Festival@WORM Rotterdam

Following its presentation at EMAF in April, a restaged performance of Takahiko Iimura’s Shelter 9999 was held in Rotterdam. Originally created in collaboration with Alvin Lucier, the work combines slide-projected images of 1960s New York nightlife with hole-punched 16mm film to imagine the underground spaces of a distant future. The reconstruction by LaborBerlin and Collaborative Cataloging Japan (CCJ) reactivated the spirit of Expanded Cinema, transforming the act of projection itself into a spatial and immersive experience.
